MKH Scout Group
Mereworth and Kings Hill Scout Group was formed in 1997 and runs at full capacity at all times. Until March 2013, we offered one of each of three sections of the Scout Association: Beavers (6 to 8 years), Cubs (8 to 10½ years) and Scouts (10½ to 14 years). However, due to the continuing growth of the group and more adults wishing to join as leaders, we now run two Beaver Colonies and two Cub Packs. A total of over 120 children make up the regular weekly membership. Associated with the group we also have "William's Warriors", an Explorer Scout Unit, for the 14 to 18 year-olds.
We currently have great support for the group with more than 20 leaders across all the sections and several adults who carry out support roles for the group. There is also a thriving Executive Committee which consists of both uniformed and non-uniformed personnel. Their role is to support the Group Scout Leader (GSL) in meeting the responsibilities of their appointment and to also act as the charity trustees of the Scout Group. In addition, many parents give regular support at meetings, events, camp etc. as they have seen their children grow through the experience and they want to share the good times as well! All leaders give their time freely, without pay, and have had special training to help them do an effective job.
